Mid-Valley Media is partnering with Samaritan Health Services to honor some of the real heroes of the COVID-19 pandemic: Nurses.

“One of the things that has helped us appreciate more than maybe before through the pandemic is nurses and how important they are to all of us,” said Shanna Cannon, regional editor for Mid-Valley Media. “We wanted to celebrate the nurses in our lives who really make a difference.”

We ask our readers in Linn and Benton counties to share their stories about nurses who have made an impact on their lives and to nominate them for recognition. Ten nurses are selected to receive a plaque and a gift basket in honor of their service. Nine are selected by a jury and one by the entire community.

All nurses in the area are eligible, regardless of who employs them or what type of health care they work in, whether it be a hospital, medical clinic, dental office, assisted living facility, nursing home, school or one home health care.

“Samaritan Health Services is pleased to support this special program to recognize and recognize outstanding nurses in our region,” said Doug Boysen, President and CEO of Samaritan. “Nurses are at the heart of patient care and do so much to aid the healing process. We value and appreciate our nurses and all nurses very much – especially for the vital role they play during our current pandemic. Thank you for all you are doing to help us build healthier communities together. “
