Ayurvedic hair care tips: Expert-approved home remedies for itchy scalp

An itchy scalp is a common problem that affects many people, even I have experienced it many times. Having a scratchy scalp is uncomfortable. Especially when you’re on the go or trying to focus on something essential but can’t because of the itchiness. Dangerous hair dyes, harsh chemicals, and poor scalp care can all contribute to this.

Our hair is quite delicate, and maintaining a great, healthy mane can be a difficult task. Despite our best efforts, we cannot achieve the desired result. Maybe the problem is with the product. Ayurveda is a traditional skin and hair disease treatment known for its medicinal and healing abilities. Ayurvedic goodness is crucial for your hair because the treatments not only contain natural ingredients, but also contain no dangerous additives.

Pamper your hair with an oil treatment and massage, then wash it thoroughly with a gentle cleanser and conditioner. It is preferable to use a cleaner and conditioner that is free from parabens and sulfates.

While it’s important to wash your hair 2-3 times a week, you can also use the following solutions to soothe an itchy scalp:

Coconut oil: Coconut contains antifungal properties that can effectively treat itching and fungal infections. Coconut oil can help balance the moisture in your hair. Warm it up for about 10 seconds. Apply it on your head and leave it on for 15 minutes. When it’s done, rinse it off. You can also try massaging your scalp with a mixture of coconut oil and lemon juice. Wash it off with a gentle detergent after gently massaging it into the scalp.

Aloe Vera: Due to its antimicrobial and soothing properties, the gel is a natural moisturizer that helps treat itchy scalps. Apply aloe vera gel made from pure aloe vera directly to your scalp. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes before washing it in lukewarm water. For better results, do this twice a week.
Lemon & Quark: Lemon can be used alone or in combination with coconut oil. It has antibacterial properties that can help you get rid of your itchy scalp. Apply a mixture of 2 teaspoons of cottage cheese and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice to your scalp. Let it sit for 20 minutes before rinsing it off completely. You can also use it to moisturize your hair.
Almond oil: It contains anti-inflammatory and skin protective properties that help in healing scalp irritation or infection. Heat the oil for about 7 seconds and apply it all over your head. Let it sit for 30 minutes before rinsing it off. For best results, repeat this approach twice a week.
Brahmi oil: The oil promotes thick and shiny hair and helps heal and prevent hair loss by adding nutrients to the scalp. The ancient herbs, also known as medicinal herbs in Ayurveda, are Brahmi, Amla and Bhringraj and are known for their fortifying properties while calming, cooling and revitalizing nerves and brain cells.

Hibiscus: The flower helps to strengthen hair, promote hair development, and reduce hair loss. 5-6 hibiscus flowers and some hibiscus leaves should be ground together. Add a few tablespoons of cottage cheese and a splash of lemon juice. Apply the mixture and let it sit for 15-20 minutes before rinsing it off properly.
