  • Start by washing your face several times as the dirt particles that sit on your face lead to hormonal acne. However, if the outer layer of skin is clean, the chances of developing acne are reduced. Use a very mild toner and wash it at least 2-3 times a day. Keeping your face clean and free of dirt can prevent dirt from building up on your skin, clogging your pores, and preventing acne from developing.
  • Stay hydrated at all times. Drink as much water as prescribed to keep your skin hydrated too. Also include green tea in your daily routine as it works internally and reduces acne formation on the face. It’s a magic potion that works wonderfully inside.
  • Start using Fuller’s Earth (Multani Mitti Pack) as it will cool your skin. You can easily find it in any department store. All you have to do is mix it with some rose water and apply the pack to your face. Apply it 2-3 times a week as it works well with hormonal acne.
  • Use less and less moisturizer as your skin must already be oily. And use a gel-based moisturizer with a pea-sized application.
  • Use retinol or retinoids, both of which are derived from vitamin A and are good for your skin. It removes dead skin that causes hormonal acne and also increases skin cell turnover. They cleanse the pores and allow the drug to penetrate through the skin for better results.
  • Tea tree is a holy grail product for all types of acne. It reduces inflammation on the skin that causes acne. Just take a drop of oil and apply it on the active acne. Do not use the same finger every time you have acne to prevent the transmission of germs. The amount only has to be one drop, because tea tree oil dries out the skin too quickly and you don’t want that. So, go for the crowd but use it every day, preferably during the night hours.
  • Talk to your gynecologist and consult them about the hormonal imbalance that is causing the acne. Once you figure out the reasons for the imbalance, you can start your medication accordingly and this acne will eventually go away.
  • Always wear sunscreen when you leave the house. Your skin needs protection to keep it safe from even more acne.
  • Don’t wear makeup that will clog your pores. It is advisable to avoid makeup as much as possible because the products that clog your pores will lead to more acne.
