January is traditionally a popular month to start a new fitness program. However, the closure of the West Lindsey Leisure Center in Gainsborough, managed by Everyone Active in partnership with the West Lindsey District Council, has raised concerns over both physical and mental health.

A survey published by Leisure-net Solutions found that 69 percent of respondents were less active during the second lockdown than during the first in March.

And with gyms having to be closed until at least Monday February 15 to crackdown on Covid-19, alternative ways to stay fit play an important role in the health of West Lindsey residents.

Stephanie Heath, Everyone Active’s Fitness Manager, has selected five key exercises that can be done at home: squats, pushups, back extensions, lunge and plank.

These can be combined with the company’s Everyone on Demand service, which is offering a one-month free trial as part of the NHS Better Health campaign and in partnership with Public Health England.

The fitness service gives people access to more than 2,500 fitness classes without leaving their front door.
