Motion Adds Canadian Health Products

The purchase marks the first corporate location in the province of Manitoba for the fast-growing Motion.

Canadian provider of mobility devices and home access Move (formerly Motion Specialties) acquired Winnipeg’s Canadian Health Care Products Ltd. (CHCP) expands to Manitoba.

Founded in 1999, CHCP is one of the largest medical home supplies retailers in Manitoba and will be known as Motion Winnipeg.

With the acquisition, Motion now has 43 locations in five Canadian provinces. The acquisition further accelerates Motion’s continued growth, said Thecla Sweeney, Motion chairman and CEO.

“We are excited to return to Manitoba Province with a business location,” said Sweeney. “Working with CHCP and its founder Joe Perry, Motion will continue to meet the unique mobility and accessibility needs of Manitobans while maintaining our commitment to making life accessible to all Canadians.”

“After 30 years in business, we are very proud to merge with Motion – Canada’s leading medical device distributor,” said Perry. “It is fitting that our motto has always been ‘Keeping Canadians in Motion’, as we are now bringing this motto to life through this integration.”

CHCP becomes a member of the wheelchair and stairlift division of Shoppers Home Health Care, MEDIchair (including Saskatoon, SK & Newmarket, ON), Eastern Mobility Specialists (Cornwall & Hawkesbury, ON), Creative Mobility Products Inc, North Coast Home Medical Equipment and A. -1 Wheelchairs Unlimited as a well-known provider that Motion has taken over over the past five years.
