PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – Downtown Phoenix now has a fun outdoor space with local food trucks, a beer garden, outdoor films, and fitness classes.

Pemberton PHX, named for the historic Pemberton House, is a collective space for various local businesses to dine and have fun al fresco during the COVID-19 pandemic. The beloved Phoenix FilmBar, which had to close the doors to its indoor theater, has found its new permanent home here and features outdoor screenings of cult classics, fan favorites and indie films.

“We knew that our fans were uncomfortable watching movies inside,” said Andrea Canales, film programmer at Phoenix FilmBar. “For us, we wanted to continue the community that we have been building for 10 years.”

The outdoor FilmBar has a huge projection screen, socially distributed seats and heaters when it gets cold. Canales said they are still working on their summer plans and that they may need to get creative in the heat. FilmBar is celebrating its 10th anniversary this week. Guests can Buy tickets for their performances on their website and can also rent the screen for private viewing.

As you move through this outdoor playground, you can find food and drink from local places like Dino’s Pizza and Abnormal Beer Company. More options will follow shortly.

Take a stroll down to the wellness lawn for fitness classes like HIIT and yoga. Fitness classes are taught by local instructors and start at 11:30 am on Saturdays. Reservations are required for fitness classes and can be made Here.
