New Delhi: We all encounter a dark circle and it’s not that impossible to deal with. Since the skin around the eyes is sensitive, it is best to resort to natural remedies rather than chemical-based products to treat these problems.

Here are some simple and easy-to-use home remedies that can help you breathe new life into your eyes:

Cold tea bags

One of the most effective and easiest ways to combat these dark circles is by using cold tea bags. Preferably use green tea or chamomile tea bags for quick results.

How to Use Cold Tea Bags – Soak the bags in water and chill in the refrigerator. Remove from the refrigerator and gently place on both eyes for 10 to 15 minutes. Repeat regularly.

Grated potatoes or grated cucumber

This is by far one of the most effective remedies. They also help reduce the puffiness around the eye area. Vitamins, antioxidants, and the anti-inflammatory nature of these cooling vegetables help reduce inflammation around the eyes while preventing darkening at the same time.

How to use potatoes or cucumbers – Rub some raw potatoes or cucumbers and place the scraps on your eyes. Relax and remove them after 10-12 minutes. Alternatively, you can extract the juice from potatoes or cucumber. Take a cotton ball, soak it in the juice and place it over your eyes. Make sure the entire area around the dark circles is covered. Leave on for 1-3 minutes and wash off with cold water. In the event that you are pressed for time, you can also put cucumber or potato slices directly on your eyes.

Cold milk

Cold milk is a natural cleanser for the eyes and also helps soothe the delicate skin around the eyes. Cold milk contains lactic acid, which not only helps reduce puffiness but also brightens the skin. In addition, potassium in milk ensures that the skin is better hydrated, which leads to softer and more supple skin.

Using Milk – Dip a cotton ball in cold milk and apply to the area around your eyes. Hold on for a while and later rinse eyes with cool water. Repeat at least three times a week!

Aloe vera

Aloe Vera is an effective moisturizer. Moisturized skin is less saggy and stays healthy longer. In addition, aloe vera helps nourish the skin and prevent premature aging.

How To Use Aloe Vera – Before hitting the sack, gently apply the aloe vera gel under the eyes and massage in for 5-7 minutes. Do not rinse unless you feel sticky and uncomfortable.

Almond oil and lemon juice

Another proven remedy for treating dark circles is by mixing almond oil and lemon juice. The active ingredient in lemon juice is ascorbic acid, and along with other nutrients, it helps reduce water retention that can cause puffy circles under the eyes. It also has a mild whitening effect, but if used undiluted, it can have the opposite effect and damage the skin. So always be careful.

How to Use Almond Oil and Lemon Juice – Take about a teaspoon of almond oil and a few drops of lemon juice, mix and apply gently around the eye area. Massage and let rest for 2 to 3 minutes. Post that rinse!

Rose water

Rose water is refreshing, rejuvenating and practically applicable to almost all skin types and all skin problems. It’s also a mild astringent and can also be used as an effective skin toner.

How to use aloe rose water
Soak cotton pads in rose water and place over the eyelids. Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes. Repeat every night for a month for best results.

Regular sleep

One of the most important factors to consider when trying to get rid of dark circles – getting enough sleep on a regular basis. Getting proper sleep regularly can be your greatest weapon in preventing and reducing dark circles in the long term. This improves the youthfulness of your skin as well as your overall health.
